The IOCUS

The crypto market in 2021 was a strange place.

While the real world was gripped by fear and people were dying from COVID-19, the crypto market was celebrating.

Tokens were being created everywhere.

There was always a reason.

Technology.
Innovation.
Community.
The future.

Some of those tokens became worth millions of dollars.
Some became worth billions.

The technology was real.
The trades were real.
The money changing hands was real.

Then came 2022.

Just as the real world began to emerge from COVID-19, the crypto market seemed to move in the opposite direction.

Cheers turned into screams.

The value of countless tokens that had once seemed so important collapsed.

The real world was slowly returning to normal.
The crypto world was falling apart.

Watching all of this, the whole thing began to feel like one enormous joke.

IOCUS.

Joke.
Jest.
Play.

Had the philosophers of the ancient world witnessed this, they probably would have spent quite some time contemplating it.

So did we.

Then we made a token.

And so an ancient word found its way onto a modern blockchain.

In 2022, one billion ICS were created on BNB Smart Chain.

Not because the world needed another cryptocurrency.
There were already enough of those.

The question was something else.

Could the market assign value to something that was IOCUS from the very beginning?

That question was never answered.

IOCUS was created, but it never truly entered the market.

For years, it simply existed on the blockchain.

Now we are bringing IOCUS back out.

So what can you do with IOCUS?

You can buy it.
You can sell it.
You can hold it.
You can give it to someone else.

These are real functions.

But there are currently no plans to run a bank with IOCUS.
No metaverse.
No artificial intelligence network.
No game economy.
No promised staking yield.
And, for now, no plans to establish a new nation.

If humanity needs any of those things, there are already plenty of tokens to choose from.

So can IOCUS have value?

We don't know.
IOCUS doesn't know.
Its creator doesn't know.
This paper doesn't know.

The market will produce a number.
Then another.
Then another.

How far that number can go, nobody knows.
That is what we intend to find out.

IOCUS does not become smarter when the number gets bigger.
It does not discover new technology.
It does not suddenly save the world.
IOCUS remains IOCUS.
Only the number attached to it changes.

And that is why, perhaps,

The bigger IOCUS gets,
the funnier it becomes.

But perhaps the value of a joke cannot be measured by numbers alone.

If we live in a healthy society, there should always be room for a joke to survive and do what a joke is supposed to do.

Didn't Milan Kundera already show us how tragic a society can become when it loses its sense of humor?

So let us believe in a world where a joke can still land.

And while we're here, let us see how far IOCUS can go.
